A rewritten and updated version of April Productions' Toronto Fringe hit (NNINN NOW Magazine) When life turns into an endless role-playing, who are you? NOT MY STORYA play about identity in the age of displacement and virtual reality where real and fictional, essence and appearance intersect in most unexpected and at times comic ways. Written by: Silvija Jestrovic Do exiles always come from remote troubled places of the world, or can the sense of displacement be felt profoundly in one's "very own backyard"? Not My Story, set in the multicultural milieu of present day Toronto, tells the story of a group of artists who find themselves between cultures and languages, desires and realty, past and present. A comedy of errors ensues when they enter a game of make-believe running away from their true story, only to find themselves face to face with it. Alluding to Chekhov's Three Sisters and Beckett's Waiting for Godot, the play explores complex, yet very personal themes of identity, friendship and love.
